Kitty-Meows

Ginny was in the pet shop, her heart beating slightly fast. She had always wanted a cat, and now that she had her own apartment, she was going to get one. She bit her lip and let her brown eyes look around the shop, smiling every time she saw a furry four-legged friend. She felt drawn to a special black cat with one white paw and a white-tipped tail. "Aww, aren't you cute?" She said, reaching her hand down to pet it. The fur was so soft beneath her fingers. She liked this cat, and it seemed to like her.

Draco had been sneaking about Diagon Alley for quite some time. The blonde Slytherin was in desperate need of potions materials. He had bought his flasks vials and tubes, his cauldron was a bit rusty but could still be used, now all he needed was an owl. He peered into the window of the pet store, glancing around at the various contents of the store. The miniaturized Peruvian Vipertooth chirped and coughed out a ball of fire as it stared hungrily at the display of mice. Draco chuckled and patted the docile little dragon's head. "No Salazar, you've got plenty at home.." He smiled softly at the beast and entered the store, determined to find the 'right' owl. He needed an owl with fine enough feathers to use in his potions, only using the ones the owl would shed daily.

Ginny spotted Draco out of the corner of her eye and hesitated before picking the cat up and walking over to him. She looked down at the warm ball of fur in her arms - he seemed to like it there and wasn't complaining a bit. She turned her attention to Draco. "Hello," she said, stroking the cat. "It's been a while. What are you doing here?" Ginny wasn't sure how Draco would react to her talking to him, but thought she would at least try to be civil. She knew that Harry had saved his life, so maybe he had changed a bit.

Draco nearly jumped out of his skin as the Weasley girl approached him. Salazar hissed violently, swatting a tiny scaled paw in the general direction of he ball of fuzz that was nestled in the mysterious girls arms. Draco grunted and tapped the top of the dragons head. "Bad Salazar, no hissing." he nearly growled out, staring apologetically at the flame haired girl. "Sorry about that, I'm actually looking for an owl.." he forced a smile and scratched the back of his head. Salazar stole the opportunity and crawled onto Draco's hand, spreading his wings and taking flight, he flew around Draco, not flying more than a foot away, circling him like a hawk.

Ginny was slightly taken aback by Draco's lack of open hostility, but was not going to complain. "What kind of owl are you looking for?" she asked him, still holding the black cat in her arms. She didn't think that she would be able to put him down now - she was putty in his paws. "I think I have to take you home with me today." Ginny cooed softly at the cat, who looked up at her with big green eyes. All Ginny could do in response was smile. This was going to be her cat.

"I'm looking for a black one, with fine feathers, I need them for potions." He shifted uncomfortably, scratching the back of his head again. Salazar puffed out a short ball of flame, landing on his masters shoulder again.

Ginny paused when she heard what Draco had said. "Wait... so you're just going to use the feathers? What about the rest of the poor animal?" She frowned slightly, hoping that he wasn't just going to throw the poor creature away.

Draco shuddered a bit, realizing what he had said."I'm going to take care of it of course, I only plan on using the feathers it sheds." He chuckled nervously, glancing around a the differant owls the store supplied.

Ginny was pleased to hear that at least the owl would be under good care. "Here's one over here," she said, pointing out a sleek black owl that was just above them. "Hang on, give me one second." Walking over to the pet store counter, she dumped some coins in front of the angry witch who ran the place and thanked her for the cat before returning to Draco.
